ROCHELLE — Teen Town was a sea of bright colors at the Hub City Senior Center luau and senior prom Friday evening.
Upon arrival the guests were given a Hawaiian-styled lei, a symbol of affection in Hawaiian culture. Everyone enjoyed the festivities, which included entertainment by Steve Morris, the one-man band. Ben Dougherty also played the ukulele, another luau tradition.
Guests danced to several tunes, including the Polka. Many also had their pictures taken courtesy of Todd and Theresa Smith, guest photographers.
The 2018 senior prom King and Queen, Dub Lambert and Nancy Brown, were crowned. This year’s Prince and Princess are Dan Russell and Georgia Lipscomb.
“The evening was wonderful, and everyone had a good time. The music, the ambience, the food…everything was great,” Connie Dougherty, Hub City Senior Center Executive Director, said.
This year marked the 15th annual senior prom. The proceeds from Friday evening’s event are going towards the center’s beautification and insulation. Dougherty said donations are still being accepted.
“Please come by the center and take a look. We couldn’t be happier with the work of Bill Schermerhorn and his crew. They did a great job,” Dougherty said.
