Woodlawn Cemetery president Lyle Headon (left) presented Yngve “Morry” Johnson with a thank you plaque for his service during WWII. This was presented at the Woodlawn Cemetery Memorial Day service. Johnson’s son, Kevin, spoke about some of his dad’s experiences while serving our country. One highlight was when two ships came to shore with 14,000 soldiers — of all things, Johnson ran into his brother who was on the other ship, not known to either one. They did get to spend four hours together. Johnson is one if not that last of WWII veterans from the Creston connections left.
