Several items still needed for park rebuild project

Posted

ROCHELLE – The Cooper Park Kids Ground community rebuild dates are approaching fast and everything is all set except for a few more items that are needed for the project.
The build is set to take place from June 20-25. The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District is asking members of the community for donations of certain equipment or monetary donations to help with the cost of purchasing the equipment.
District officials are confident the community will meet their equipment needs so staff won’t need to purchase items outside the project budget.
“We absolutely expect to receive enough donations from the community, Rochelle is so generous and the Kids Ground is no different,” expressed Jackee Ohlinger, park district executive director.
Donations of any kind are accepted and appreciated, whether they are pieces of equipment, gift cards or monetary donations. People lending equipment for the rebuild have the option of donating it temporarily or permanently.
“All of the donations will be inventoried and once the build is completed, they will have the option of picking it back up or donating it for future projects,” said Ohlinger.
Volunteers working at the event also have the option of bringing their equipment with them while they work and bringing it back home at the end of their shift.
While the district expects to receive all of the items on its list from the community, it is the more specific pieces of equipment such as a BEAM saw or routers that are most crucial. Ohlinger is excited about the project and hopes the weather will cooperate.
“The build dates are right around the corner and we are hoping for good weather, it is going to be a good time,” said Ohlinger.
Anyone wishing to donate any of the items needed from the following list, they can drop them off at the park district main office Monday-Friday, June 10-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monetary donations are also excepted for like purchases.
