ROCHELLE — As a community improvement, the City of Rochelle has contracted with National Power Rodding Corp. to clean and televise sanitary sewers in the areas of McConaughy, Meadow Lane, North 2nd Street, Lincoln Highway, North 3rd Street and North Main Street in the upcoming weeks. If your service will be affected, you will be notified via door tag with specific dates that work will be completed.

Occasionally during cleaning and televising, air pressure in the sewer can force water out of traps and cause water to splash out of toilets, sinks and drains. Please take the following precautions to prevent water damage in your home.

Keep toilets flushed and close lids to cover toilet bowls when not in use. Close drain plugs in all sinks and bathtubs when not in use. Cover basement floor drains.

You may return things to their normal state when the equipment has moved off your block.

Sometimes the sewer cleaning and televising may leave an odor in your home caused by drying out sewer traps. If so, run water down all sink and bathtub drains, flush toilets, pour water into each basement floor drain and open your windows. After a short time, the odor should disappear.

If you have any questions, please contact National Power Rodding Corp. at 1-800-621-4342.
