OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office issued 276 citations including four impaired driving arrests and during the recent holiday enforcement effort.
Citations and criminal arrests resulted from numerous offenses including: four arrests for driving under the influence, two stolen vehicles recovered, four felony drug arrests, four misdemeanor drug arrests, 33 citations to uninsured motorists, 169 citations for speeding and speeding related offenses, 28 citations for drivers with no valid, suspended or revoked licenses and three citations for illegal transportation of alcohol.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up. The enforcement campaign took place from Dec. 17 through Jan. 3.
During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
The holiday enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
