ROCHELLE – Visitors to Rochelle will now have a much easier time finding their way around town.
New wayfinding signs have been popping up all across the city, directing people to all of the main buildings and attractions in the city.
The signs are located along main roads including Illinois Route 38, Illinois Route 251 and Lincoln Highway.
“The new signs help people who aren’t familiar, navigate through the town,” said Michelle Pease, Rochelle’s community development director.

The addition of the new signs will make it much easier for people coming into town to find buildings or facilities.
“The addition of the signs will help with navigation,” said Pease. “When schools would host events, people would ask where is the school?”
The idea to update the old signs formed last year and has been on the agenda since before the city finished its budget for 2019. The new signs not only have updated buildings and directions, but they got a visual upgrade as well.
“The signs have the city’s new logo, bright colors and branding,” and better directions to the downtown area,” Pease added.
The City of Rochelle has seen many new additions recently and the new wayfinding signs are just one of them. The members of the community have begun noticing these changes and have made it a point to express their feelings on them.
“I have gotten lots of calls and compliments,” said Pease. “It has been a very cool project to be a part of and we already have plans to put up signs labeling the parking lots across town.”
