SOCCER: Hubs blank Ottawa on the road

OTTAWA— Brayon Orozco sat out the wild Sycamore game on Tuesday, but he returned in full force on Thursday in Ottawa by scoring three goals as the Hubs’ varsity soccer team topped the Pirates 4-0.

It took Rochelle a little bit of time to get rolling, but at the 23-minute mark of the first half Orozco scored his first goal of the game to put the Hubs up 1-0.
The talented junior tallied another goal at the 36-minute mark just before half and then came out with his third goal of the day in the second half at the 56-minute mark.
With a 3-0 lead, Rochelle kept control of the game throughout the second half before Max Torres put icing on the cake with a goal at the 67-minute mark to close out the scoring.

“It was good to have Brayan’s offense back,” said Hub coach Brad Male.
Rochelle out shot Ottawa 20-17, and on the defensive end of the field Jarret Milan recorded four saves in the goal before exiting the contest with an injury.
Austin Brown stepped in a goalkeeper the rest of the way and turned away an Ottawa penalty kick on an impressive save.
“Austin did a nice job coming in and he made a really nice save on a penalty kick to preserve our shutout,” Male explained.
Male was happy with his team’s effort on the road, but said there can be some improvements in certain facets of the game.
“We passed much better in this game and controlled the ball for 65-70 percent of the time, but we also had some lapses and were fortunate to keep Ottawa from scoring,” he said. “We have a few things to work on, but overall it was a pretty good performance on Thursday.
