Alfano, Williams score runs in 12-2 defeat

LASALLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity softball team continued Interstate 8 Conference play against LaSalle-Peru on Thursday, falling 12-2 in a road matchup. Rochelle (5-17, 2-10 Interstate 8) will host Dixon for its Senior Night game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Rochelle took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring after junior Ella Alfano reached on an error and junior Macy Belmonte singled to right field. Sophomore Lauren Dyer brought Alfano home on an RBI groundout.

An RBI single from Ava Lannen and a solo home run from Ava Lambert capped off a five-run frame for the Cavaliers in the bottom of the first inning. Taylor Martyn singled to spark a two-run frame for LaSalle-Peru in the bottom of the second inning.

RBI groundouts from Karmen Piano and Lannen sparked a four-run surge for the Cavaliers in the bottom of the third inning. Rochelle tallied one run in the top of the fourth inning, where freshman Madigan Williams walked and scored on an error.

Addison Duttlinger’s RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Cavaliers a 10-run lead and ended the game. Rochelle finished with four hits in the loss.
