ROCHELLE — The Hubs sophomore baseball team locked down its first victory of the season on Wednesday, taking a commanding lead early and cruising to beat Belvidere by a score of 11-1.
Eight Rochelle players scored at least one run in the game, with Noah Knight, Zach Bernardin and freshman Gavin Ansteth each crossing home plate twice on Wednesday. Mason DeLille led the team with three RBIs while going 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk, while Hayden Jones and Anthony Hueramo each added on RBI in the victory.
Brady Shank took the mound for Rochelle, tossing five innings while surrendering just one earned run on four hits. The sophomore struck out seven batters while also going 1-for-2 at the plate with a single and a walk.
The Hubs will return to action on Saturday against the Freeport Pretzels at 10 a.m.
