STERLING – Illinois State Police District 1 Commander, Captain Matthew Hodgdon, has announced activity and enforcement figures for calendar year 2018. Troopers in District 1, which includes Carroll, Lee, Ogle and Whiteside Counties, recorded 12,261 incidents during the year.
In addition, enforcement figured totaled 5,350 citations and 5,905 written warnings, including 2,948 speeding citations, 49 DUI arrests, 464 occupant restraint citations, 267 distracted driving citations, 1,828 written warnings for speeding and 240 criminal arrests. Troopers assisted 1,246 motorists and conducted 1,567 Motor Carrier Safety Inspections. District 1 handled 251 traffic crashes.
During the year, 3,728 citations were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt and Distracted Driving.
