ROCHELLE — Several new members have been added recently to the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District staff, including Scott Stevens.
As the new sports coordinator, Stevens is responsible for the programming based on the needs and wants of the area, helping to not only retain current members but also to promote more involvement among the community.

Recently Stevens was asked what types of new programs he plans to bring.
“The Rochelle Park District currently provides a great array of programs and leagues for citizens of all ages,” he said. “Personally, I believe that prioritizing youth activities is important for creating a foundation of community involvement in the lives of children, so I expect to implement programs, both athletic and cognitive, that promote comradery and teamwork.”
Stevens grew up being involved with the Rochelle park district, even helping to referee a few of the women’s volleyball games as a seventh grader.
“What kept me involved from high school and into college is the genuine nature of participants as well as the feeling of being involved and having a purpose in the community of Rochelle,” Stevens began. “Growing up I participated in AYSO, coed volleyball, flag football, and men’s basketball. Today I referee these sports, and even though I am not playing, the feeling that I have a chance to continue and grow the positivity that is the park district is what motivates me the most.”
