Rochelle – South Main Street construction is underway and South Main Street will be closed from Steam Plant to Steward Road until Oct. 23. There will be no access from Willis Avenue, Lake Lida Lane or Southview Drive from South Main Street.

This project is the beginning of a seven month process to overhaul South Main Street to include to include a larger signalized intersection at Steward Road, roadway widening, resurfacing, curb and gutter, storm sewer drainage systems, and a shared use path.

Phase I is now underway and Phase II is slated to begin in 2023 from Steam Plant Road to Veteran’s Parkway, completing the multi-use path from Steward Road to Veteran’s Parkway.

Half of this nearly $3 million project is being funded through the State of Illinois EDP fund and truck access route dollars.

Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Please use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, road closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone.
