Dear Editor,
I recently read a Letter to the Editor that shocked and appalled me about a “puppy mill.”
First of all, allow me to sprinkle kindness like confetti and send accolades to Liz DeArvil for the homework she clearly has done on puppy mills. I am an educated professional who has donated valuable time to support a particular rescue of a small breed dog. I, too, have done my puppy mill homework. I am very aware of the atrocities that many “backyard breeders” often exhibit. Those situations are abhorrent, at the very least.
Secondly, allow me to also share that I am one of hundreds who purchased a princess of a pup from the breeder that this expository text is shaming and defaming. Because I’m “computer literate,” I did quite a bit of research before I went for a visit. Within minutes, I discovered that the website, the Facebook page and the lovely testaments were absolutely warranted. Warmth, empathy, and passion for puppies was (and continues to be) evident. In fact, I was so impressed that, after retiring a few months later, I wanted to spend a few hours working there.
