ROCHELLE — Terry E. Gabbard, 53, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Terry was born on Jan. 20, 1966 in Rochelle to Franklin and Janet (Munz) Gabbard.
He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp. Terry returned home and married Melissa Dyer on Oct. 19, 1990 in Rochelle. He was a welder for C.S.T. Industries in DeKalb formerly known as A.O. Smith for 30 years.
Terry loved doing everything with his family. Other things he enjoyed were shooting, watching his brother-in-law, Brad Dyer, drag race and watching 70s car and military movies.
Terry is survived by his wife, Melissa, of Rochelle; two daughters, Kristen (Ryan) Moorehead of Montgomery, and Katelyn Gabbard of Rochelle; two sisters, Debora (Mike) Murphy of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kimberly Gabbard of Polo; brother-in-law, Brad Dyer of Rochelle; and granddaughter, Olivia Kate Moorehead.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at the funeral home with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle with Military Services provided by the Eastern Lee Ogle Honor Guard.
