ROCKFORD — Lady Hub sophomore Megan Thiravong competed in the 2018 Greater Rockford Women’s Golf Classic this past weekend, taking first place in the A Flight with three consecutive match-play victories at three different courses.
Thiravong’s tournament run began when she scored 81 over 18 holes at Cherry Valley’s Elliot Golf Course on Saturday, July 28 to qualify for the A Flight with seven other players. Thiravong won her first A Flight bracket match over Arisasa Thammavongsa (2 up) at Rockford’s Sandy Hollow Golf Course on Sunday, July 29 to reach the semifinal round.
Thiravong topped Kristen Sayyalinh (1 up) in the semifinals at Rockford’s Ingersoll Golf Course this past Saturday, Aug. 4 before facing Kayla Sayyalinh in the championship match at Rockford’s Aldeen Golf Club. Thiravong defeated Sayyalinh (3 and 2) to finish 3-0 in match play and win the A Flight title.
