Time to vote for politicians genuinely concerned about those they represent

Posted

Dear Editor,
Ronald Reagan asked, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” We need to ask the same question today of all politicians.
Our state representatives and state senators should be luring new businesses with good paying jobs to our area. But those we’ve elected are more concerned that low income workers be forced back to work in unsafe conditions due to this pandemic.

They also want us to risk our lives as voters and those of poll workers (including those of their own party) to vote in person in the fall. One state representative in our area who works as an executive at a community hospital insists that we risk our health to get out and stand in line to vote. This despite four states having vote by mail for decades with no issues and other states getting half their ballots back by mail. Note that counties in Illinois mail out our voter registration cards and our driver’s licenses.
It’s time to vote out self-serving politicians and vote in representatives who are genuinely concerned about the people they represent, putting them first and not big business.
Sincerely,
Pam Farris
