FRANKLIN GROVE — Tony Lee Schaneberg, lifelong resident of Franklin Grove, was called home Aug. 28, 2017.

Tony is survived by his parents; two brothers, Calvin Schaneberg of Franklin Grove and Phil (Judy) Schaneberg of Rochelle; one son, Willy (Heather) Schaneberg of Franklin Grove; one grandson, Wee Schaneberg of Franklin Grove; three granddaughters, Jordan, Alexis, and Dani; two great-granddaughters, Ellie and Akari; and one great-grandson, Isaac.

Tony was born in Dixon on Oct. 19, 1958 to William and Opal Schaneberg. He graduated from Franklin Grove High School and worked as a line mechanic at Silgan Containers in Rochelle for more than 10 years. He also served as Village Trustee of Franklin Grove for many years.

Tony was a devoted grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Wee, restoring Case lawn tractors and going to tractor shows, where they would meet up with his son, Willy, and nephew, Brandon Schaneberg. He was involved in many town activities in Franklin Grove. He is also known for his scalloped corn casserole that will be missed at the Schaneberg’s dinners.

Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that, God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone;

For part of us went with you, The day God called you Home.

You left us peaceful memories, Your love is still our guide;

And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same;

But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. for family and 6 to 8 p.m. for friends in Ashton. A funeral is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home 601 Richardson Ave., Ashton. Interment will follow at Ashton Cemetery. A luncheon at Atlasta Park in Franklin Grove will follow the graveside service.
