The Rochelle varsity boys and girls track and field teams closed out their respective indoor seasons at the Sterling Quadrangular meet at Westwood Sports Complex on Saturday. The Hubs finished first with 55 points, while the Lady Hubs took third with 36 points.

Hubs finish first, Lady Hubs take third as outdoor season approaches

STERLING — The Rochelle varsity boys and girls track and field teams closed out their respective indoor seasons at the Sterling Quadrangular meet at Westwood Sports Complex on Saturday. The Hubs finished first with 55 points, while the Lady Hubs took third with 36 points.

Boys

Junior Gyvanziel Quinonez placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.16, while senior Connor Lenkaitis took third with a time of 2:15.22. Senior Jessee Infante and junior Santi Cordoba finished fourth and fifth in the 1600-meter run with times of 5:06.54 and 5:12.66. Cordoba placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:17.14.

Seniors Dylan Finkboner and Ryan Friestad took fourth and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 9.79 seconds and 9.96 seconds. Rochelle finished fourth in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:45.30 and third in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:49.03. The Hubs won the 3200-meter relay with a time of 9:13.15.

Senior Mason DeLille took first in the high jump with a clearance of 5-10, and junior Aaron Vondergathen placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 10-9. Sophomore Trevor Goodwin finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 39-7 ¼, and DeLille took third at 39-4 ½. Junior Riley Patrick placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17-1, and sophomore Oscar Aguirre took ninth in the shot put with a heave of 33-8.

Senior Greg Ricketts and junior Zach Akey finished eighth and ninth in the 400-meter dash with times of 1:01.76 and 1:02.89, respectively.

Girls

Junior Macey Ryan finished first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.28, while freshman Liberty Hayes took fourth with a time of 8.63 and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.32. Junior Maddie Ohlinger finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.98, and junior Angie Saldana was ninth with a time of 30.33.

Senior Katherine Bakken won the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:47.91, and junior Britney Baez placed sixth with a time of 6:20.93. Senior Grace Garcia placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:10.15, and senior Camryn Turner took eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:55.12. Bakken also won the 3200-meter run in 11:54.43, setting a new RTHS indoor school record. Baez finished third with a time of 13:35.31.

Senior Abby Tilton took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.51. Rochelle finished second in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:56.56 and third in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:42.63. Sophomore Afi Gati and junior Gabrielle Harding placed second and third in the shot put with tosses of 32-2 and 31-5.

Freshman Teagan Meyers placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 4-10, and freshman Lucy Bunger finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 13-7. Turner took seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 28-9 ½.
