Track: Rochelle Middle School trio earns NCJC Conference titles

Royals compete in eight-team meet at DeKalb High School

DEKALB — DeKalb High School hosted the North Central Junior Conference track and field meet on Saturday, May 7. Rochelle Middle School competed against seven other schools, with the seventh-grade boys finishing tied for third place to lead the Royals in the meet. The seventh-grade girls took seventh place and both eighth-grade teams landed in eighth place.

7th Boys

Devin Macek earned conference titles in two individual events, winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.36 seconds and taking second in the high jump with a clearance of 4 feet 6 inches. Eliud Lombardia won the conference title in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet 9 inches, while Victor Lombardia placed third in the discus throw with a distance of 75 feet 2 inches. Eliud Lombardia finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.15 seconds.

Aaron DeClerck took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.15 and seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 26 feet. Mason Ludwig placed fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:47.37 and German Albertson finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.94 seconds. Alejandro Pellicer took seventh in the shot put with a heave of 24 feet 3 inches.

Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Albertson, Pellicer, Pedro Rosales and Victor Lombardia) placed second with a time of 1:56.41. Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team (Angel Hernandez, Albertson, Eliud Lombardia and DeClerck) finished fourth with a time of 4:33.95.

7th Girls

Carol Carpenter won the conference title in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:09.79. Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Dylan Etes, Phelisity Lopez, Jasmine Walsh and Taylin Watson) finished fourth with a time of 2:10.85 and Paris Washington took seventh in the high jump with a height of 3 feet 10 inches. Washington placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 11 feet 6 inches and Watson finished sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 21 feet 2 ½ inches.

8th Boys

Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Van Gerber, Miles Hunley, Roman Villalobos and Mark Green) placed fourth with a time of 1:55.20. Villalobos took ninth in the shot put with a distance of 30 feet 3 inches and ninth in the discus with a distance of 85 feet 9 inches. Wyatt Worthington finished second in the triple jump (31 feet 3 inches) and sixth in the high jump (4 feet 10 inches). Gerber took third in the triple jump with a leap of 30 feet 6 inches. Levi Waddle placed eighth in the 800-meter run at 2:46.84 and Declan McGee took eighth in the 1600-meter run at 5:45.17.

8th Girls

Valerie Saldana finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:57.32 and Kyrie Cragin took ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:15.70. Cragin placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 21.71 seconds and Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Cragin, Ryelee Bogle, Ashley Dickey and Saldana) finished fourth with a time of 2:07.44. 

Savanna Wilson placed seventh in the high jump at 3 feet 10 inches. Bogle finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 26 feet 11 inches and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 12 feet.
