Track: Royals take on Belvidere Central, Sycamore

Rochelle Middle School athletes bring home several top finishes

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Middle School track and field team hosted Belvidere Central and Sycamore for a North Central Junior Conference meet Wednesday. The seventh-grade boys won with 60 points and the seventh-grade girls placed third with 43.5 points. The eighth-grade boys took second with 43 points and the eighth-grade girls finished third with 11.5 points.

8th Boys

Wyatt Worthington won the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet 1 inches and Kevin Orozco won the long jump with a distance of 15 feet 9 inches. Van Gerber won the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet 5 inches and Roman Villalobos won the shot put with a distance of 34 feet 7 inches. Villalobos also finished fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 80 feet 10 inches.

Worthington placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.52 seconds and Orozco took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.85 seconds. The 400-meter relay team (Orozco, Elijah Mayen, Owen Tooley and Antonio Hueramo) placed second in 54.99 seconds and the 800-meter relay team (Miles Hunley, Gerber, Frank Nasca and Roman Villalobos) took third in 2:02.00. Mark Green finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.25.

Orozco took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.95 and the 1600-meter relay team (Declan McGee, Green, Parker Slattengren and Worthington) placed second in 4:43.67.

8th Girls

Valerie Saldana took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.28 seconds and the 800-meter relay team (Ryelee Bogle, Jaydin Dickey, Christina Jones and Saldana) placed second with a time of 2:10.67. Jones finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:20.10 and Kyrie Cragin took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 32.59 seconds.

The 1600-meter relay team (Keirra Clark, Cragin, Emely Hernandez and Savanna Wilson) finished fourth with a time of 5:54.06. Cragin took third in the high jump with a clearance of 3 feet 9 inches and Bogle placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 25 feet 5 inches.

7th Boys

Devin Macek placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 4 feet 6 inches and Eliud Lombardia won the long jump with a distance of 14 feet 5 inches. Victor Lombardia won the discus throw with a distance of 72 feet 6 inches and Macek took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 20.72. Jay Hylton won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.29.

Mason Ludwig won the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:50.55 and the 800-meter relay team (Pedro Rosales, Alejandro Pellirer, Tyler Etes and Macek) took second with a time of 2:08.03. The 400-meter relay team (Angel Hernandez, Victor Lombardia, Eliud Lombardia and Hylton) won with a time of 54.56 and Aaron DeClerck won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.29.

Hylton won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.54 and the 1600-meter relay team (DeClerck, Ludwig, Alexis Nava and German Albertson) finished second with a time of 4:50.53.

7th Girls

Taylin Watson won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.04 and Phelisity Lopez finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.60. Jizell Cantu took fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 8:48.69 and the 800-meter relay team (Watson, Dylan Etes, Jasmine Walsh and Lopez) won in 2:10.88. Evelyn Garcia won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:18.57.

Paris Washington took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:41.78 and the 1600-meter relay team (Magley Belmonte, Naydia Ortiz, Aidelis Gonzalez and Ashley Lopez) placed second with a time of 7:32.91. Carol Carpenter tied for first in the high jump with a clearance of 3 feet 9 inches and Walsh finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 11 feet 7 inches.

Vivian Worthington placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 18 feet 5 inches and Ortiz took third in the discus throw with a distance of 50 feet. Etes finished third in the shot put with a distance of 18 feet 7 inches
