ROCHELLE — Rochelle School District 212 recognized two longtime board members who will be retiring after nearly two decades of service. Brent Tracy and Bob Walsh were each honored for their hard work and achievements during the district’s monthly board meeting Monday night.
“We want to thank both board members on behalf of our students, our staff and the entire administration,” District 212 Superintendent Jason Harper said. “Brent and Bob have helped me a lot over the last few years and they’ve been tireless supporters of what we’ve been trying to accomplish… We’re really appreciative of everything they’ve done for RTHS and the district.”
Tracy has served on the board for 16 years, while Walsh has been a board member for roughly 14 years. Both members received gifts from school administrators as a token of appreciation for their years of service to the board. District 212 will hold a reorganization meeting for the new board next Monday, April 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Rochelle Township High School board room.
“The one comfort I’ve always had is that we have the same people at every board meeting and we always have a way of working together,” District 212 Board President Tom Huddleston said. “There were very few times where we had a split vote on the board and we usually developed a consensus. We’ve always been good about agreeing to disagree and moving forward and I think that’s always been a great trait of our board. We’re going to miss Brent and Bob very much.”
Agenda
Board members will be presented with recommended changes to the 2021 fiscal year budget during a hearing before the regularly scheduled board meeting. Board members renewed the yearly membership agreement with the IHSA and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Oregon Community Unit School District 220 for a shared professional services position.
Vaccines
Harper said that RTHS and the OCHD will hold the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations for students 16 and older on Tuesday. Roughly 100 students will receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Harper said that more vaccination clinics may be held in the future.
