ROCHELLE — Twila May Kruger-Borneman, 101 and charging strongly toward 102, unexpectedly died April 21, 2018 peacefully and in love with our dear Lord, leaving behind two children, Karen Wickens and Joel Miller and many grandchildren.

Twila was born, raised, lived and died in and around Rochelle for almost the entirety of her beautiful 101 years. Twila was born in a country farmhouse on June 1, 1916 to August and Mable Kruger of Lindenwood and started working at the age 13 since her father never believed in providing an education for ‘only a girl’. From that point in her life she continued to work for the next 77 years until the age of 90.

Twila lived her life as a God fearing, peaceful, loving and beautiful woman among us more mortal human creatures. Although of small, slight stature and soft voice, she carried a quiet strength, power, will and drive that successfully propelled her through the lessor sides of her life and people who were unknowingly graced by her presence.

The family wishes to thank all those beautiful people who helped care for our dear mother during the last 11 years of her life on earth with special thanks to her dear friends, Ty and Kathy. Mother requested a private intimate graveside service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.

There will be a celebration of life service at the Steward United Methodist Church, 507 Main St., Steward, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5 with Pastor Megan presiding.
