ROCHELLE — Jamie Mancillas spent hours volunteering his talents to cook and prepare food for hundreds leading up to Thanksgiving. As a cook for more than 20 years and VFW lifetime member Mancillas volunteers to prepare the food for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Rochelle VFW.
In anticipation of the free meal, he prepared 16 turkeys, six pans of stuffing, five pans of ham, and four pans of mashed potatoes. He explained every item except the stuffing is cooked from scratch.
More than 200 Thanksgiving meals were delivered in the Rochelle area and many more enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner in the VFW Hall.
