Village of Progress enjoys some dancing and karaoke

Posted

OREGON – The Oregon Park District Staff spend many hours preparing and decorating for their annual Daddy Daughter Dance & Mother Son Date Night.
This year, the Park District staff decided that even more people should enjoy the dance, decorations and fun. So, we decided to invite the consumers at the Village of Progress to come and enjoy the dance. The theme this year was a 1950s Sock Hop which everyone loved and got a kick out of singing karaoke to some of their favorite 50s tunes.  They enjoyed doing the twist, showing off their dance moves to YMCA, and were all smiles during the balloon drop.

The Oregon Park District was very pleased with the success of the Special Needs Sock Hop. In addition to dancing, consumers enjoyed pizza, refreshments, games, decorating a picture frame and the bright red Chevy photo booth.
Everyone enjoyed the music, dancing, expressing themselves, hanging with friends, and all the fun that special events offer to all ages and abilities.
It was a joy to see them smile and having fun. Special thanks to all the Oregon Park District staff that made this event possible both from the Park District and Village of Progress.
A big thanks to the volunteers who also helped and to Niki Hunt Photography who donated her time and talent to photograph the participants and help them keep the memory of the first Oregon Park District dance for them alive.
