ST. CHARLES — Vivian E. Burch, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in St. Charles.
Vivian was born on Sept. 6, 1921, in Rockford, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Othmer. She married Charles P. Cannella of Rockford on Oct. 5, 1940. They eventually moved to Rochelle where they owned and operated the Rollercade roller rink for 10 years. She played the Hammond organ at the rink and upon their divorce she played at a piano bar at the Beacon restaurant in Rochelle for several years where she met George T. Burch whom she married in November of 1969. He died of Alzheimer’s in the fall of 2001.
She loved to play the organ, piano and singing, and entertained the residents of Brighton Gardens on a regular basis.
She is survived by her only child, C.R. Cannella of Henderson, Nev.; and several nieces, Linda Layton of Loves Park, and Carla Lilien of Geneva, and nephew Jimmy Goff of Sebring, Fla.
Funeral services will be held on May 26 at the Beverage Lyons Family Funeral Home 704 N. Sixth Street, Rochelle, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tilley officiating. Burial will follow at Willwood Cemetery in Rockford.  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association
