BYRON — The Rochelle Lady Hub freshman volleyball team battled at the Byron Power Classic on Saturday, winning three matches and ultimately finishing second out of 16 schools in the tournament.
The Lady Hubs went 2-1 in round-robin action with victories over Stillman Valley (25-19, 25-20) and Belvidere North (25-10, 25-18) before taking down Hononegah (26-24, 25-15) to reach the finals. Rochelle faced Rockford Boylan for the title, falling just short to take second in the tournament.
The team includes Giselle Garcia, Lauren Dyer, Emma Kennay, Sydney Carmichael, Ali Ohlinger, Kendyl Darby, Adelita Alvarez, Flor Magana, Abby Metzger, Adamary Lopez, Erin Murphy and Payton Cesarone. The team is coached by Katie Roush.
