ROCHELLE — After 30 years, the staff, students and board of the Foundation for Focus House, wish a very happy retirement to Susan Vrana, who managed the boys’ residential house.
“Sue is someone who always genuinely cared about Focus House, the program and the kids. She made a difference in the lives of so many,” Director Brenda Mason said.
“Sue has been a staple on the staff and not having her around every day will be such a change for us, but we are so happy for her,” Jeni Hardin of the foundation board said.
Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court Judge John B. Roe IV wrote a testimonial. In it he said, “I will always remember our days working together in the late ‘90s. Sue influenced me in a positive way as I embarked on my career. Her dedication and investment in the youth at Focus House was always apparent and second to none.”
Teacher Kim Dewey said, “I will miss hearing Sue (and the boys) say, ‘If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!’ I can picture it as I type this. I can also picture how big her heart is for all of her boys over the years. Being a mom is not easy and you became the mom some of your boys never had. Your boys and I appreciate that you stepped into that role.”
