Wants to see Blackhawk statue project finished

Posted

Dear Editor,
Oregon’s annual Trail Day festivities are loved by the public for its informational and entertaining take on native living. I believe that most importantly, Oregon Trail Days are resourceful.
Every year the money that was raised during Trail Days was saved and used to help restore our noble Chief Blackhawk statue. The towering statue can be seen for miles and is a focal point that Oregon’s citizens take pride in.

Since the Chief Blackhawk statue is not easily hidden, we cannot help but see the depressing site of our now-covered statue. This is due to communication difficulties as well as an obvious lack of leadership.
With that being said. I am ashamed that more people have not been concerned with our statue’s lack of progress. Where did the money that was raised to restore this piece of art go? Chief Blackhawk’s statue deserves to be enjoyed and memorialized in our town. You should want it to be your job as a citizen of Oregon to strive towards the reconstruction of this statue, and see that it continues.
I have enough confidence in the city that it is possible to organize such a movement.
