ROCHELLE — It was a sea of green early Saturday morning at the Ralfie’s BBQ Lucky Hub Dash 5K, with over 150 runners participating despite the winter-like conditions.
The event was the third annual fundraiser for the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce.
Runners and teams of all ages were welcome and encouraged to wear their craziest green gear for the “Festive Dress” contest.
Winners for the event were John Michael Loggins, Rachel Bruner, and Sarah Brooks in the adult division; Larazo Gutierrez, Jason Riddle, and Jack Pavlak for the youth division. Winner of the Festive Dress contest adult division was the “Irish I had a Beer” team, and Makayla Ludwig for the youth division.
“The chamber is thrilled to hold this event, each year it gets bigger and better,” Herrera said. “We know that it will be a day filled with fun, food, and drink while promoting fitness. We want to thank all of our runners and sponsors for coming out and having a great time despite the weather. We hope to see everyone next year!”
The event drew students from Rochelle Elementary district as well as the outlying school districts.
Sponsors include Ralfie’s BBQ, Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Holcomb Bank, Serenity Hospice and Home, Stillman Bank, Rochelle Enrichment Center, Swedish American—A Division of UW Health, City of Rochelle Tourism, Central IL Loans, Wills Chiropractic, Country Financial, Liquor ‘N Wine, Central Bank Illinois, Bee Designs, Holiday Inn Express, and Walmart.
