ROCHELLE — William E. (Bill) Pinkston, 64, of Rochelle, passed away Aug. 27, 2019. He was born Oct. 4, 1954, the son of William H. Pinkston and Imogene L. (Koechig) Pinkston-Mattson of Rochelle.
He attended Morrison Institute of Technology and Kishwaukee College.
Bill served in the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of PFC, training at MCRD San Diego, California, and stationed at Beaufort, South Carolina, as an aviation ordinance specialist.
Bill was married to Marcia Moss, Marcie King, Dawn Bolt and Debra Davis.
He was employed at Green Giant in Belvidere, FBC Industries in Rochelle, and held various semi truck driving jobs over the years.
Bill was a lifelong musician who played in several bands over years, most recently Southern Ride. He was also a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his sons, Joshua (Pam) Pinkston of Machesney Park, Andrew King of Austin, Minnesota; grandson, Blaine Pinkston of Machesney Park; mother, Imogene Pinkston-Mattson of Dixon; brother, Jeffrey (Kelly) Pinkston of Dixon; sisters, Faye (Worth) of Wheeler-Bulls Gap, Tennessee, and Hazel (Jack) Ortiz of Lake Mary, Florida; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber; father, William H. Pinkston; nephew, Aaron McGrath; brother, Tony Winkler; and sister, Evelyn Robison.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice.
