Window project nearing completion

ROCHELLE — The installation of windows at two Rochelle elementary schools is nearly complete.

Crews with Rock Valley Glass of Cherry Valley were at May School this week replacing the single pane windows with energy efficient insulated glass.

Tony Fluehr, Foreman, explained the work at May is expected to be complete by the end of the week. Crews will transfer to Central School to finish the window replacement there, which should be done by the beginning of August.
“These windows are a better quality. They are insulated and have a greater R-value,” Fluehr said. “They also have a UV coating.”
The new windows will provide a thermal break, helping to avoid hot and cold air directly through the frames to the interior. This will maintain a steadier temperature that results in energy efficiency.
Earlier this year the Rochelle Elementary School District approved window replacements at three of the elementary schools and at the middle school. The windows will be replaced at Rochelle Middle School and at Tilton School next summer.
