Woman strikes pole on IL Route 2 crash

Posted

On Oct. 11 at 11:34 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 8000 block of North IL Route 2, near the intersection with Ashelford Drive, for a report of a one-vehicle accident. Upon arrival and investigation at the scene, deputies determined that a 2018 Hyundai driven by Kim L. Berg, 49, of Byron, had left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Deputies learned that Berg had been traveling northbound on IL Route 2 when she lost control and entered the east ditch where her vehicle struck the utility pole and came to rest. Berg refused medical treatment from the Byron Ambulance at the scene. As a result of the damage to the pole, power lines fell into the roadway which caused the northbound lane of IL Route 2 between Luther Drive in Byron and Ashelford Drive north of Byron to be closed to traffic until 8:15 p.m. when ComEd was able to replace the pole and lines.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Byron Police Department, the Byron Fire Department, the Byron Ambulance, and IDOT, who assisted with traffic control.
