Rochelle – The City of Rochelle Street Department, has announced that the southbound lane of S. Washington Street from First Avenue to the S. Sixth Street intersection will be closed to through traffic while crews are on site beginning Wednesday, March 8 at 7 a.m.
The work is necessary to repair a failing storm water discharge pipe. Work is expected to be substantially complete by March 10 at 4 p.m. and is subject to weather.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible. All South Washington Street southbound traffic coming from First Avenue will be detoured one block west to S. Sixth Street.
Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Motorists are asked to use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, lane closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone.
