Wreaths Across America ceremonies scheduled

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will conduct multiple Wreaths Across America ceremonies to honor local veterans during the weekend before Christmas. Wreaths Across America is a national program for communities to honor deceased local veterans by sponsoring and placing wreaths at their graves.
DAR will return to Daysville Cemetery, burial site of Revolutionary War soldier Daniel Day, St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Rochelle, as well as continuing grave specific requests at Trinity and Lawnridge; which are also in Rochelle. The chapter is excited to add Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston to this year’s sponsorships.
The public’s assistance is requested to honor as many veterans as possible. Wreaths can be sponsored for $15 each online by visiting www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/IL0136P or scanning the QR code in the photo to select the cemetery of their choice. To sponsor wreaths by check, please contact Lydia Roberts at [email protected] or Laurie Perry at [email protected]. Order forms are also available at the VFW and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church office. Please note that the sponsorship deadline is Nov. 29. Specialty wreath options are available at the website.
Volunteer participants are invited to attend the ceremonies and place wreaths to fulfill the objectives to remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve and teach our children the importance of freedom.
Wreaths Across America ceremonies are scheduled as follows: Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m.: Woodlawn Cemetery, Creston. Saturday, Dec. 17, 1 p.m.: Daysville Cemetery, Oregon. Sunday, Dec. 18, 1 p.m.: St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rochelle, with abbreviated ceremony and wreath placement to follow at Lawnridge and Trinity Cemeteries.
