Wrestling Club: Junior Hubs battle at 2023 Illinois Bantam Championships

Bigelow, Villalobos take home fifth-place medals

BOLINGBROOK — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent four athletes to the 2023 Illinois Bantam Championships in Bolingbrook on Sunday. Tate Bigelow and Rowen Villalobos each earned fifth-place medals at the tournament, while Wells Millard and Elliot Huff each earned two bout victories on Sunday.

Bigelow took fifth in the 66A Bantam Division with a 3-2 record, opening the tournament with consecutive wins over Stillman Valley’s Owen Collins and Lincoln Way Wrestling’s John Trojan. Bigelow secured fifth place with a 6-4 decision over Crosstown Spartan Elite’s Maximus Ebel.

Villalobos took fifth in the 66E Bantam Division with a 3-2 record, notching back-to-back wins against Mustang Wrestling’s Luke Stitcher and SJO Youth Wrestling’s Easton Riley to reach the fifth-place bout, where Villalobos scored a 7-2 decision over MadDog’s Nicholas Castelvecchi.

Wells Millard went 2-2 in the 52B Bantam Division, recording a fall over Mustang Wrestling’s Sean Darling and DeKalb’s Valentino Martinez. Elliot Huff went 2-2 in the 58B Bantam Division, earning falls over Springs Elite Wrestling’s Gray Lewis and Lil Coalers wrestler Drake Wysocki.
