Marian Central Catholic defeated Rochelle 61-9, while Harvard topped the Hubs 39-37 to drop the purple and white to 5-10 overall.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle varsity wrestling team took on Harvard and Marian Central Catholic in nonconference action Friday evening, with the Hubs dropping both dual matches against the Hornets and Hurricanes. Marian Central Catholic defeated Rochelle 61-9, while Harvard topped the Hubs 39-37 to drop the purple and white to 5-10 overall.
Marian Central Catholic won 12-of-14 matches against Rochelle, scoring 61 consecutive points before sophomore Ben Harvey took down Cade Bokowy by 6-0 decision at 182 pounds. Junior Gavin Ansteth then topped Joey Pawlak by fall at 195 to help the Hubs close out the match on back-to-back wins.
Senior James Rodriguez began the match against Harvard with a victory by fall over Leo Flores at 285 before the Hornets scored 24 straight points over four matches. Freshman Ethan Tooley brought the Hubs back with a 10-2 major decision over Brett Lovell before junior Keegan Davis-Carter defeated Chase Bischke by 10-5 decision at 138.
Trailing 36-13, the Hubs pinned three straight Harvard wrestlers beginning with junior Zeke Horn, who won by fall over Jesus Marquez at 160. Junior Bryan Garza pinned Pablo Martinez at 170, and sophomore Ethan Albers pinned Edwin Quinones at 182 before Ben Harvey received a forfeit at 195. Rochelle led 37-36 before the Hornets won at 220 by 5-2 decision.
