The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team hosted a three-team nonconference meet against Winnebago and Belvidere on Tuesday. Rochelle fell 65-18 against Belvidere before defeating Winnebago 54-24 to close out the meet. The Hubs are now 16-5 overall.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team hosted a three-team nonconference meet against Winnebago and Belvidere on Tuesday. Rochelle fell 65-18 against Belvidere before defeating Winnebago 54-24 to close out the meet. The Hubs are now 16-5 overall.
Belvidere
Jake Bell opened the dual with two takedowns and two near-falls before pinning to win the 195-pound bout. TJ Mitchell followed with a first-period pin to win the 220-pound bout before Rochelle freshman Kaiden Morris stepped up to the 285-pound bout against Bryan West, scoring a takedown and pinning West with five seconds remaining in the first period to win.
Brayden Tenuissen took a 9-3 lead before pinning in the second period to win the 106-pound bout for Belvidere. Rochelle won the next two matchups, with freshman Xavier Villalobos receiving a forfeit in the 113-pound bout and freshman Joseph Nadig recording a first-period pin against Anthony Vrlac in the 120-pound bout. With the match tied at 18-18, Belvidere scored 47 unanswered points across eight consecutive bouts to seal the dual victory.
Dominic Girardin and Kamryn LaBeau each pinned to win the 126-pound and 132-pound bouts for Belvidere before Colin Young scored a technical fall to win the 138-pound bout. Drake Treu received a forfeit in the 145-pound bout and Antonio Alvarado earned a first-period pin in the 152-pound bout. Belvidere closed out the dual with three consecutive pins from Nick Taylor, Tayvione Wilson and AJ Piloni in the 160-pound, 170-pound and 182-pound bouts.
Winnebago
Freshmen Kaiden Morris and Damon Cagle received forfeits in the 220-pound and 285-pound bouts for Rochelle before sophomore Tommy Tourdot took another forfeit for the Hubs in the 106-pound bout. Freshman Xavier Villalobos dominated the 113-pound bout against Chase Whitehead, totaling three takedowns and one near-fall before pinning in the second period.
Rochelle took five consecutive forfeits in the 120-pound (Joseph Nadig), 126-pound (Weldon Nay), 132-pound (Wesley Brown), 145-pound (Grant Gensler) and 152-pound (Caleb Nadig) bouts. Winnebago won the final four matches with pins from 160-pounder Charley Murray, 170-pounder Lucas Cowman, 182-pounder Mannix Faworski and 195-pounder Gabe Ginger.
