OREGON — The Rochelle varsity wrestling team earned its first triangular sweep of the season on Tuesday, when the Hubs grappled against Oregon and Plano. Rochelle defeated Oregon 52-30 before topping Plano 58-18 to improve to 5-7 overall this season.
Oregon
Sophomore Ivan Pineda earned a forfeit at 106 pounds and Oregon took two forfeits at 113 and 120. Sophomore Grant Thompson defeated Jared Glendenning by fall in 26 seconds at 126, and freshman Ethan Tooley topped Isaac Brooks by 12-3 major decision at 132.
Oregon won three matches by fall between 138 and 152. Noah Paul won by fall against Rochelle junior Keegan Davis at 138, and Jokiah Sewell pinned Hub freshman Osiris Lenker at 145. Chase Clark won by fall over Rochelle senior Jacob Fore at 152.
Rochelle pinned four Oregon opponents between 160 and 195. Junior Zeke Horn won by fall over Austin Ebert at 160, and junior Bryan Garza pinned Dan Dominguez at 170. Sophomore Ben Harvey won by fall against Zach Crandall at 182, and junior Gavin Ansteth pinned Adam Glendenning at 195. Senior Pedro Lopez and junior Zach Capes took forfeits at 220 and 285 for the Hubs.
Plano
Sophomore Ivan Pineda (4-8) earned a forfeit at 106 pounds and Plano took two forfeits at 113 and 120. Sophomore Grant Thompson (9-5) edged Jorge Aguilar by 8-3 decision at 126, and freshman Ethan Tooley (4-3) took a forfeit at 132. Junior Keegan Davis (6-9) defeated Vincent Herbig at 138 by 15-5 major decision.
Freshman Osiris Lenker (2-8) and senior Jacob Fore (6-3) took forfeits at 145 and 152. Junior Zeke Horn (6-9) pinned Bobby Johnson at 160, and junior Bryan Garza (8-3) won by 8-1 decision over Jonah Dahlke at 170. Sophomore Ben Harvey (14-1) won by fall against Nehemiah Denton at 182.
Junior Gavin Ansteth (8-3) received a forfeit at 195. Antonio Peray topped Rochelle senior Pedro Lopez (3-1) by fall at 220, and senior James Rodriguez (3-9) pinned Seth Painter in 36 seconds.
