Hub City Senior Center of Rochelle accepted a $11,300 donation from 100+ Women Who Care of Ogle County on April 8 at the Lincoln Arts Center in Rochelle.

On the eve of our nation’s 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, the museum celebrates the historic ride for freedom by Paul Revere that took place on April 18, 1775, with Two Lights for Tomorrow, a program for all ages on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, April 5 Rob Olszewski of Flagg Center and Hillcrest Fire won the Pat Kasmar Award.

On Saturday, April 5, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honored a group of creative fifth and sixth grade students selected for their artistic and writing skills used to express environmental awareness, as part of the Agency’s Annual Poster, Poetry, and Prose Contest. The students selected from throughout Illinois were recognized at a ceremony at the Illinois State Library in Springfield.

City of Rochelle Engineer Sam Tesreau has announced the closure of Caron Road, from Kelley Drive to south of Creston Road/1st Avenue for 1,000 feet, beginning Tuesday, April 15 for inlet, manhole and storm sewer reconstruction along with concrete curb and gutter repairs and asphalt pavement restoration and resurfacing.  This work is expected to be completed by end of day on May 20.

Five Ogle County 4-H local youth competed in the Northwest Regional Competition for Illinois 4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology earlier this month and were rewarded for their efforts. This event was held at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon.

St. Paul Lutheran School recently named its third quarter honor roll students for the 2024/2025 school year. 

There were no injuries or significant damage after the Rochelle Fire Department responded to an electrical issue at the BP station in Rochelle on Sunday evening, RFD Chief Dave Sawlsville said. 

The Rochelle Township High School Speech team completed its 2024-2025 season with an awards ceremony.  All members received a certificate recognizing their contribution and commitment to the team. 

The Flagg Township Museum will host a series of informal talks – Chautauqua – on March 24 through March 27 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the museum and it’s all about making connections and building community.

The City of Rochelle Public Works Department has announced that Creston Road, from Caron Road to Dement Road will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday March 10 at 7 a.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Rochelle Middle School math team competed in the regional MathCounts competition. Students participated in the events: the team competition, the individual competition, and the "Countdown" competition. 

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) has provided its Comprehensive Community Based Youth Services (CCBYS) program to youth in Ogle County for over 35 years.

RCH Registered Dieticians, Janelle Stein and Luis Cano are offering a series of classes called Lifestyle Balance, targeting those with prediabetes. These classes have been modified from the original year-long CDC led National Prediabetes Prevention Program and condensed into 12 weeks.
