Ag in the Classroom in Ogle and Carroll counties will host an Agriculture Career Exploration Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Blackhawk Center, 1101 Jefferson St. in Oregon. It is free and open to the public.

Ag Career Exploration Fair set for Nov. 21 in Oregon

OREGON – Agriculture is everywhere, technology is advancing, and research says there is a high demand for graduates with a degree. Are you still wondering if this field of study is right for you? Come to the fair and find answers to your questions. Several colleges and businesses will be on hand to help participants choose their future within this growing industry.

Ag in the Classroom in Ogle and Carroll counties will host an Agriculture Career Exploration Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Blackhawk Center, 1101 Jefferson St. in Oregon. It is free and open to the public.

College recruiters will be offering information on the many majors in agriculture, what it takes to get a degree, and answer participants' questions. Colleges and universities participating in the event are Black Hawk College-East, Highland Community College, Kishwaukee College, Joliet Junior College, UW-Platteville, Western Illinois University, Iowa State University, and University of Illinois.

For people interested in employment opportunities, business representatives from various agriculture-related companies will offer career knowledge and skills needed to perform specific jobs and promote summer internships. Career booths will include Bayer, CHS Ethanol, Etnyre Manufacturing, Vita Plus, and more.

Ag in the Classroom is offered through the University of Illinois Extension in partnership with Ogle County Farm Bureau, Carroll County Farm Bureau, Ogle County Soil & Water, and Carroll County Soil & Water.
