I am almost afraid to say this but temperatures in the 50s this weekend mean spring can’t be far away right?

I mean, we have never had a major snowstorm once the temperatures go this high, have we?

I mean, we have never had a major snowstorm once the temperatures go this high, have we?
Of course we have, and we probably will again.
I saw a graphic the other day that indicated we were pretty close to average for snowfall during a normal winter. But the snow came early and there was very little in November and December. I predict a major snowfall before the Cubs’ first home game.

Speaking of the Cubs, as I am writing this I keep hoping that some deal will be announced to show Cubs games on Comcast. I would never have guessed that in my lifetime the Cubs would not be on WGN. From free TV to pay, and the question is how much.
I have a six pack of Cubs tickets for Friday afternoon games. There are four of us who go, and our first game is April 3.

I have a feeling we won’t be in shorts.

I saw some survey crews along Illinois Route 251 this week. They were working between Hickory Grove and just past Aldi. I wonder if there is a major project in the works.
I have to stop driving Interstate 39 from Rockford. I get so angry, my blood pressure must be 400. The road stinks. “Stay in your Lane” signs are posted because the road is so rutted it could be dangerous and it is dirty. There is trash in the median, the right of way, the trees…it is an embarrassment.
It’s not first time I have made this complaint. I am not the only person who thinks it is a disgrace. Some agency needs to step up, get it fixed and cleaned and figure out how to keep it clean.

Congratulations to Connie and Ken Dougherty, grand marshals of this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
This year Matt Hart and I will be emcees for the parade. If you have ever encountered Matt, you know him to be a human dynamo. Don’t know if this old guy will be able to keep up with him.
The parade kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on March 14 in downtown Rochelle and the Hooley, or the big Irish party, follows at CSC skydiving center.
It’s always a fun time.
