ROCHELLE — Barbara Elayne Landry, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at Manor Court in Rochelle. Barbara was born May 28, 1932 to Daniel C and Louise (Rubsaman) Kump in Oregon. On Jan. 28, 1949 she married Gordon Landry (Hammond, Louisiana) at the East Oregon Chapel. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2017, three days short of their 68th wedding anniversary.
Barbara was a member of the Flagg Center Church of God where her husband served as minister for more than 40 years. Through the years they served together in many pastorates including Arizona, Louisiana and Illinois. They attended many conferences together listening to country music as they travelled as well as listening morning, noon and night. They were able to travel to the Grand Ol Opry. After the children were grown, Barbara went to work as a proofreader for religious publications. She still made time for crocheting and tea parties with the grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Daniel (Carola), Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; David (Tammy), Magnolia, Texas; Joel, Rochelle; Gretchen (Terry) Wight, Pecatonica; Jennifer (Daniel) Foster, Rochelle, and Barry, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her sister, Jean Best, Pearl, Mississippi; 18 grandchildren, Greg (Susan) Landry, Sarah (Joe) Hood, Lori (Chuck) Yielding, Rebecca (Brad) Gibbs, Deanna (Daniel) Patterson, Shannon (Tyler) Livezey, Brooke Landry, Jessica (Mark) Robinson, Angie (Tim) Danielson, April Wight, Jeremy (Tamarah) Wight, Tyler Wight, Joshua (Sara) Foster, Caleb Foster, Micah (Jackie) Foster, Timothy (Veronica) Foster, Miranda Foster, Stephanie (John ) Gibby; 33 great-grandchildren, Mason (Kelly) Landry, Cameron (Makenna Cisler) Landry, Ashetyn, Noah Hood, Camden, Aiden Yielding, Haleigh, Blaine and Kamryn Gibbs, Modesto and Aloysius Livezey, Ashlyn, Brayden and Kianna Robinson, Makayla, Mason, and Madelyn Danielson, Kyren and Norvinah Wight, Alex, Ben, Natalie, Brooklyn Foster, Malachi, Jeremiah Foster, Michael, Olivia, Emma, Elliot, Matthew Foster and Elijah Foster, and Tallulah, Lilla Gibby.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara is predeceased by infant son, Scott; son Ric; brother, Louis Kump; infant grandson, Justin Landry; and daughter-in-law, Tabitha Landry.
A memorial service is being planned for May as well as burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Memorials may be made to Flagg Center Church of God nursery.
