ROCHELLE — Senior Carson Lewis was named an All-Conference winner in the Interstate 8 for the 2025 varsity baseball season. Senior Brandyn Metzger was named an Honorable Mention for the Rochelle Hubs, who finished with an 11-20 overall record during the 2025 campaign.

Lewis led the Hubs on offense, posting a team-high .417 batting average and ranking first on the team in hits (45), singles (39), runs (28) and total bases (52). Lewis, who finished second in on-base percentage (.466) and slugging percentage (.481) for the Hubs in 2025, collected 14 RBIs over 118 plate appearances. Lewis stole four bases and drew 10 walks this spring.

“It feels good to end my senior year on a high note and to see my hard work be recognized by our conference,” Lewis said. “Offensively, I felt like I did a good job of putting the ball in play more and getting hits. I felt like I improved from not just putting the ball in play, but finding ways to get on base more often and finding gaps in the defense to hit the ball where they were not at.”

On the mound, Lewis led Rochelle in innings (45) and ranked second in strikeouts (35) and ERA during the 2025 season. One of five seniors departing from the 2025 roster, Lewis played center field and shortstop throughout the season. Lewis will be playing football at North Park next year.

“Defensive and pitching wise, I felt like I did a good job of throwing a lot of strikes when I was on the mound and not walking a lot of batters,” Lewis said. “I felt like I was throwing hard as well from last year. And defensively, I felt like I made sure to keep the ball in front of me and I focused on doing the little things right and making easy plays easy.”

Metzger received an Honorable Mention after posting a .337 batting average with 32 hits and a team-leading 27 RBIs during the 2025 season. Metzger pitched and played second base for the Hubs, throwing 18.1 innings and striking out 16 batters while recording a team-best 4.20 ERA.
