SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Rampage 12U baseball team went 3-2 over five games to place second in the 2025 Sycamore Dingers for Dad Tournament from June 7-8. Rochelle picked up wins over the Crystal Lake Ironmen, Streamwood Stampede and Elgin Titans Navy 12U teams.
Game 1
Rochelle opened the tournament with a 12-6 win over the Crystal Lake Ironmen 12U squad. Beau Perrine went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Devin Hansen struck out four batters over three innings pitched in the win. Jimmy Chadwick and Noah Hayden combined for three strikeouts.
Dom Escatel slapped an RBI groundout to the shortstop and put the Rampage ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Crystal Lake tied the score in the bottom of the first, but the Rampage answered with two runs in the top of the second inning, where Brantley Koenig lined an RBI single into center field and Brycen Williams plated Gavin Smith with an RBI groundout.
Rochelle rallied with two outs in the top of the third inning, scoring five runs to take an 8-1 lead. Devin Hansen reached on an RBI infield single and Brayson Bouland reached on an error to score Dom Escatel. Beau Perrine cleared the bases with a three-run homer to right field.
Riley Heal’s RBI groundout brought in the first of two runs for Rochelle in the top of the fourth inning, where Brycen Williams scored on a wild pitch to give the Rampage a 10-1 advantage. Crystal Lake rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Rochelle countered with a solo home run from Brayson Bouland in the top of the fifth inning. Heal’s RBI single in the top of the sixth inning drove in the 12th and final run of the game for the Rampage.
Game 2
Rochelle conceded a 9-6 loss against the DeKalb Crush 12U squad in its second tournament game. Grange Kissack went 2 for 2 for the Rampage, who finished with six hits in the loss. Trailing 5-0 after the first inning, Rochelle scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, where Riley Heal smacked an RBI single and two Rampage runners scored on passed balls.
Rochelle evened the score with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brycen Williams came through with an RBI single to plate Beau Perrine and Brantley Koenig scored on a passed ball to make the score 5-5. DeKalb surged ahead with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but the Rampage responded in the bottom half, where Grange Kissack singled and scored on a passed ball. A home run put the Crush ahead 9-6 in the top of the sixth inning.
Game 3
Rochelle scored a 14-4 win over the Streamwood Stampede 12U team in the first of its three tournament games on June 8. Devin Hansen finished with three RBIs, while Brayson Bouland, Noah Hayden and Brantley Koenig each added two RBIs for the Rampage offense. Koenig struck out two and Hayden struck out four batters over three innings pitched to seal the win.
Trailing 3-0, Rochelle tacked on its first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, scoring after Noah Hayden singled and touched home on a passed ball four batters later. Brantley Koenig tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning. The single was one of 10 hits in the frame for the Rampage, who erupted for 10 runs to take an 11-3 lead.
Brayson Bouland gave Rochelle its first lead with a two-run single. Devin Hansen followed with an RBI single two batters later and Riley Heal added an RBI groundout to put the Rampage ahead 7-3. RBI singles from Gavin Smith, Jimmy Chadwick and Noah Hayden capped off the 10-run frame for the Rampage, who tallied three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, where Devin Hansen smacked a two-run double and Brycen Williams notched an RBI single.
Game 4
The Rampage took down the Elgin Titans Navy 12U squad 11-7 in its second tournament game on June 8. Devin Hansen and Grange Kissack each recorded two RBIs for the Rampage, who collected 12 hits in the victory. Dom Escatel struck out four batters over three innings pitched, while Brantley Koenig closed the game with three strikeouts over two innings on the mound.
Rochelle led 2-1 after the first inning, where Brantley Koenig and Noah Hayden both scored on Elgin errors. Brycen Williams sparked the Rampage offense in the top of the second inning, shooting an RBI single to center for the first of four Rochelle runs during the frame. Grange Kissack roped a two-run double into right and Noah Hayden floated an RBI single to first base.
Beau Perrine’s RBI single and Devin Hansen’s RBI groundout led to two more runs for the Rampage, who took an 8-1 lead in the top of the third inning. Although Elgin earned three runs back in the bottom of the fourth inning, Rochelle countered with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, going up 11-4 after RBI singles from Riley Heal and Jimmy Chadwick. Elgin scratched three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Rampage held on to secure the win.
Game 5
Rochelle bowed out of the tournament with a 7-1 loss against the Elgin Titans Red 12U team. Brantley Koenig went 2 for 2 and Dom Escatel recorded one RBI for the Rampage, who ended the game with six hits. Eli Thompson pitched all five innings, striking out eight batters.
The Rampage trailed 4-0 after three innings and scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning, where Dom Escatel drove in Brantley Koenig with an RBI single to the left side of the infield. Elgin tallied one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to clinch the win.
