OTTAWA — Sophomore forward Brody Bruns recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rochelle Hubs during their Interstate 8 Conference varsity basketball matchup against Ottawa at Kingman Gym on Friday evening.
Bruns converted seven field goals and sank two 3-pointers for the Hubs, who fell behind 18-7 after the opening quarter and shot roughly 39 percent from the field in a 60-46 loss to the Pirates. Freshman guard Cohen Haedt chipped in five points and three steals for the Hubs (7-16, 1-5 Interstate 8), who played without junior guard Van Gerber.
Junior guard Martiese Pogue scored seven points on 3-of-4 shooting, while senior guard Elijah Harley added seven points and two assists. Owen Sanders and Evan Snook each finished with 18 points for the Pirates, who scored 22 points off turnovers and 16 points in transition during Friday's game. Rochelle will host Plano on Monday night.
