STREATOR — Four members of the Rochelle Hub varsity basketball team reached double figures on Saturday, when the boys engaged in a high-scoring nonconference battle against the Streator Bulldogs. Senior Eli Luxton led the Hubs with 20 points and six rebounds, while junior Elijah Harley added 17 points and four assists as Rochelle fell 91-77.
Junior Carson Lewis recorded 14 points and four steals for the Hubs (8-14, 2-6 Interstate 8), who will face Rock Falls on the road Wednesday evening. Freshman Brody Bruns totaled 10 points and eight rebounds for the Hubs, who shot 50 percent from the field and scored 50 points in the paint during Saturday's nonconference contest.
The Bulldogs attempted 25 free throws and made 19 against the Hubs, who attempted only eight free throws while sinking just four. Streator outrebounded Rochelle 37-27 and held a 15-8 advantage in second chance points. The Bulldogs also drew 22 personal fouls against the Hubs, who finished just 5-for-20 from the 3-point line in the loss.
