MORRIS — Senior guard Carson Lewis drained five 3-pointers and scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Rochelle Hubs during their Interstate 8 Conference road matchup against Morris, which came down to the final moments of the fourth quarter on Saturday.
Sophomore forward Brody Bruns posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Hubs, who fell one point short in a 63-61 loss against Morris. Junior guard Van Gerber sank three triples and totaled 11 points for the Hubs (8-18, 1-7 Interstate 8), who will return to the court with a nonconference home matchup against Rock Falls on Wednesday.
Lewis grabbed seven rebounds for the Hubs, who committed 21 turnovers and allowed 17 points off turnovers in Saturday's game. Rochelle shot the ball well from 3-point range, making 10-of-24 attempts from beyond the arc. Jack Wheeler led Morris with 28 points and 15 rebounds, while Brett Bounds added 19 points in the game.
