PLANO — The Hub sophomore basketball team won three games at the Plano Christmas Classic this past week, culminating with a victory over Northridge Prep in the fifth-place game.
Rochelle opened the JV bracket with a first-round bye before defeating Mendota 56-50 in the second round. Zach Sanford and Adam Kemp each scored 18 points in the victory.
The Hubs suffered their lone tournament loss in the quarterfinals, falling 56-48 against Burlington Central. Adam Kemp totaled 11 points while Ryan Simmons added 10 points for Rochelle.
Rochelle closed the tournament out with back-to-back wins in the consolation bracket. The Hubs defeated Aurora Central Catholic 66-31 on Saturday behind Noah Brown's 21 points and Sanford's 13 points. Rochelle beat Northridge Prep 55-29 on Monday for fifth place, with Simmons scoring 14 points and Brown adding 13 points.
