GENESEO — Senior Logan Frye fired a match-best 593 series and was one of five Rochelle Hubs to roll 500-plus series scores on Thursday evening, when the purple and white faced Geneseo in a nonconference varsity bowling matchup at the Arcadia Family Fun Center.
Rochelle took two games from the Maple Leafs and overcame a loss in the third game to emerge with a 3,191-2,921 victory. Sophomore Bryson Stewart rolled a 544 series, while freshman Josef Alanis scored a 540 series for the Hubs (8-9, 4-4 Interstate 8), who will return home for the Interstate 8 Conference tournament at T-Byrd Lanes on Monday afternoon.
The Hubs dominated the opening game against Geneseo, winning 1,140-959 behind a series-best 230 from the two-hander Stewart and a series-best 216 from junior Levi Waddle, who recorded a 496 series on Thursday. Rochelle extended its lead over the Maple Leafs with a 1,085-939 victory in the second game, where Alanis bowled a series-best 216 and Frye fired a 203. Geneseo claimed the third game 1,023-966 behind a 213 from Mason Anderson.
Junior Caleb Mortensen rolled a 511 series with a high score of 187, while junior Declan McGee added a 507 series with a high score of 171 to aid the Hubs in their win on Thursday night.
