MENDOTA — Freshman Josef Alanis fired a 570 series to lead the Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team during its nonconference road match against Mendota on Tuesday evening.
Senior Logan Frye rolled a 543 series for the Hubs, who fell to the Trojans 3,373-2,993 at the Elks Lodge. Rochelle (2-5, 1-1 Interstate 8) will return to the lanes against Sycamore at Mardi Gras Lanes on Monday, Dec. 2. Mendota defeated the Hubs 1,050-960 in the first game, where Alanis threw a series-best 239 to lead the Rochelle side. Frye’s 177 and sophomore Bryson Stewart’s 173 fueled the Hubs in the second game, which Mendota claimed 1,224-1,001.
The Trojans clinched the series win and the sweep with a 1,099-1,032 victory in the third game, where Frye rolled a series-best 212 and junior Declan McGee shot a 183 to lead the Rochelle side. Alex Holland’s 637 series and BJ Bresley’s 616 series were the high marks for Mendota.
